Most provinces in Canada have an agreement with the Government of Canada that allows them to nominate immigrants who wish to settle in that province.
To apply under the Provincial Nominee Program, applicants must be nominated by a Canadian province or territory. An applicant requires a Permanent Job Offer in the designated province for from whom he/she is requesting support in order to apply under the Provincial Nominee Programs. In most cases a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is also required which is obtained by the employer normally prior to an offer of employment being issued. When you have a job offer and the LMIA, AMS will assist you to prepare the paper work required by each of the provincial government as well as the Federal Government as there are two separate applications to one to the Provincial for the sponsorship certificate and a second to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for permanent residence.
Provincial nominees are not assessed on the six selection factors of the Federal Skilled Workers Program.
Family Connection Categories -This category is for immigrant families living in certain provinces i.e. currently such as Manitoba who want to help their overseas family members relocate and work in the province.
Applicants must have a family member who has been living in the province for at least one year. The family member must be willing to provide applicants with assistance during the immigration process and after they arrive in the province. The family member will be the "Sponsor".
Special programs are introduced by the provinces from time to time in order to address serious employment shortages in their province i.e. The Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) for Regiona.
There are many programs under provincial jurisdiction which will create opportunities for foreign workers and trades and AMS can assist you in better understanding each process.
